Our Founder

After our founder, Beth Chen, was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, she was forced to change her diet drastically. Many foods that she became accustomed to eating – and that many people eat every day – suddenly made her very sick.

Feeling isolated in her struggles, Beth began sharing food recipes on her blog, The Honest Spoonful. She found a lovely community of people who shared her food sensitivity battle and the accompanying feelings of loneliness. She sought a way to remedy this surprisingly common issue yet infrequently spoken about.

Beth Blends is her way of giving back to the community, which gave her solace and comfort in her time of need. Beth Blends caters to the most consequential dietary needs with two allergen-free flours and countless recipes for using them.

 

Our Food Philosophy 

Our food philosophy is simple. We believe in using whole ingredients that are easy to pronounce (no mystery chemicals!), so you can eat delicious food that aligns with your dietary needs. We don’t believe in food shaming in any capacity – there is no right or wrong way to nourish your body. Safety and satisfaction are the most important things.

Our Allergy Friendly Promise

We promise never to use gluten or nuts (aside from coconut) because we know how hard it is to find gluten and nut-free products made from natural, minimally processed ingredients.

Our products are produced in a dedicated gluten free facility. Plus, every batch of our flour is Gluten-Tox tested to ensure that it's between 10ppm to 5ppm level. The FDA requires 20ppm or under for gluten-free products.

 

Beth Blends flagship products include: 

Grain Free Flour Blend

Produced in a dedicated gluten-free and Top 5 (peanuts, fish, soy, shellfish, and gluten) allergen-free facility with minimally processed ingredients. The ingredients include: 

  • Tapioca Flour - Naturally grain and gluten-free, derived from the cassava root.
  • Cassava Flour - Made from dried, whole cassava root ground to a fine powder. Naturally gluten and grain-free. Cassava is a more sustainable flor option as it needs less water than other alternative flours, like almond, and still produces a high yield.
  • Coconut Flour - Minimally processed and naturally grain and gluten-free.
  • Baking Soda - Also known as sodium bicarbonate, to help flour rise in baked goods.
  • Cream of Tartar – An acidic byproduct of fermented grapes. When combined with baking soda, it becomes a leavening agent (helps baked goods rise) by producing carbon dioxide gas.

Nut/Cassava/Grain Free Flour Blend

Produced in a dedicated gluten free and Top 9 (gluten, peanuts, soy, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, eggs, seeds, dairy) allergen-free facility with minimally processed ingredients. The ingredients include:

  • Tigernut Flour - The flour is made by grinding down whole tigernuts, which are not nuts! Naturally gluten and grain free.
  • Arrowroot Flour - This flour is easy to digest, requires minimal processing, and is naturally gluten and grain free.
  • Plantain Flour - Made by drying unripe plantains and grinding them to flour. Naturally gluten and grain free.
  • Baking Soda - Also known as sodium bicarbonate, to help flour rise in baked goods.
  • Cream of Tartar – An acidic byproduct of fermented grapes. When combined with baking soda, it becomes a leavening agent (helps baked goods rise) by producing carbon dioxide gas.
